Pipeline pressure tests and stress tests are performed in accordance with applicable European standards and regulations, based on client requirements.

The pipeline pressure test serves as the final assessment of the system’s resistance to internal pressure, as required by the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and a range of European and other international regulations and standards.

A stress test is a comprehensive hydrostatic test of a pipeline, used primarily on gas transmission lines. Stress testing is employed to achieve an enhanced level of operational safety. During the test, the pipeline structure is strengthened through both material hardening and geometric strengthening, a process known as shake-down. The result is a controlled increase in the load-bearing capacity of the pipeline structure. When correctly performed, a stress test also significantly eliminates residual stresses in the material arising from manufacturing or installation, and reduces the influence of geometric imperfections.
